स्‍थलरूप के विकास डेविस की संकल्‍पना

डेविस महोदय के अनुसार

-    भौगोलिक चक्र समय की अवधि है जिसमें उठा हुआ स्‍थलरूप अपरदित होकर समतल मैदान में परिवर्तित हो जाता है।

-    कोई स्‍थलरूप,  संरचना, प्रक्रम और अवस्‍था का प्रतिफल होते हैं।  

-    डेविस के अनुसार स्‍थलरूपों में समय के सन्‍दर्भ में क्रमिक परिवर्तन होता है।

डेविस ने समय के सन्‍दर्भ में स्‍थलरूप के विकास को मॉडल द्वारा प्रकट किया। इसमें उन्‍होने पहले से कुछ मान्‍यतायें मान ली हैं

1. किसी स्‍थलरूप के उत्‍थान की अवधि छोटी होती है अपरदन अवधि की तुलना में बहुत कम समय में किसी स्‍थल का उत्‍थान हो जाता है।

2. जब तक स्‍थल रूप का उत्‍थान होता है उसका अपरदन नहीं होता है।

3. स्‍थलरूपों का स्‍वरूप पर्यावरणीय दशाओं के अनुरूप होता है।

4. नदियॉ अपनी घाटी को तब तक गहरा करती हैं जब तक कि वे क्रमबद्ध न हो जायें। इसके बाद घाटी क्षैतिज अपरदन द्वारा चौडी होती है।

5. स्‍थल रूप अर्न्‍तजात और बहिर्जात बलों की अर्न्‍तक्रिया का परिणाम होते हैं।

डेविस के अपरदन चक्र का आरेखीय प्रदर्शन

डेविस ने अपदन चक्र प्रदर्शित करने के लिए समांग संरचना वाले स्‍थलरूप की कल्‍पना की।

अपरदन चक्र की तैयारी – इसके अन्‍तर्गत उस स्‍थल रूप के उत्‍थान से है जिसका अपरदन होना है। इस स्‍थल रूप के उत्‍थान में लगे समय को अपरदन चक्र में शामिल नहीं किया जाता बल्कि इसे अपरदन चक्र की तैयारी कहा जाता है।

अपदन चक्र के आरेख में

उपरी वक्र – सम्‍पूर्ण चक्र में यह स्‍थल के शीर्ष की उॅचाई को प्रकट करता है युवावस्‍था से जीर्ण अवस्‍था तक स्‍थल रूपों के शीर्ष की उॅचाई घटने पर इस वक्र की उॅचाई घटती जाती है।

निचला वक्र – सम्‍पूर्ण चक्र में यह स्‍थल रूप नदी घाटी के निचले तल की सागर तल से उॅचाई को प्रकट करता है जिसका लम्‍बवत अपदन के कारण समुद्र तल से उॅचाई घटती जाती है यह युवावस्‍था से जीर्ण अवस्‍था तक जाने पर सागर तल के बराबर हो जाता है।

समय रेखा - यह किसी स्‍थल रूप के उत्‍थान से लेकर समप्राय समतल मैदान तक परिवर्तित होने में लगे समय को प्रकट करता है।

सागरतल रेखा – यह सागर तल या अन्तिम आधार तल को प्रकट करता है इस रेखा से स्‍थल रूपों के धरातल और शीर्ष की निरपेक्ष उॅचाई को समझा जा सकता है।

1.   तरूणावस्‍था – यह तैयारी के बाद की अवस्‍था है नदी घाटी में तीव्र लम्‍बवत अपरदन होता है जिससे नदी घाटी की गहराई बढती है जिससे V आकृति की घाटी व जल प्रपातों का निर्माण होता है।इसमें सरिताओं का शीर्ष अपरदन से सरिताओं की शीर्ष की ओर लम्‍बाई बढती है। आरेखीय प्रदर्शन में ये निचले वक्र का तेजी से नीचे की ओर आने को प्रकट करता है जिससे उपरी वक्र और निचले वक्र के मध्‍य दूरी बढती है जो कि सापेक्ष उचॉई में वृद्धि को प्रकट करता है।

2.     प्रौढावस्‍था – इसमें सरिताओं की गति मंद पड जाती है जिससे लम्‍बवत अपरदन मंद एवं क्षैतिज अपरदन तीव्र हो जाता है। इसमें घाटी के गहरे होने के स्‍थान पर चौडी होती है। अर्थात V आकृति की घाटी के स्‍थान पर चौडी घाटियों का निर्माण होता है। स्‍थलरूपों की उॅचाई में तीव्र ह्रास होता है जिससे उपरी वक्र में तीव्र गिरावट आती है।

3.   जीर्णावस्‍था - इसमें लम्‍बवत अपरदन समाप्‍त हो जाता है लेकिन क्षैतिज अपरदन का कार्य होता है। जल विभाजक (दो नदी क्षेत्रों को विभाजित करने वाले स्‍थल रूप) अपरदित हो जाते हैं इन स्‍थल रूपों के शीर्ष की उॅचाई में ह्रास होने से उपरी वक्र में तीव्र गिरावट जारी रहती है। अब उपरी वक्र और निचला वक्र अपने अधिकतम गिरावट को प्रदर्शित करते हैं। जिससे प्रकट होता है कि उॅचे उठे स्‍थल रूपों का अभाव है और समप्राय मैदान (पेनीप्‍लेन) का निर्माण हो गया है। इसमें कहीं कहीं उठे स्‍थल रूपों के अवशेष अवशिष्‍ठ पहाडियों के रूप में कहीं कहीं दिखायी देते हैं जिन्‍हें मोनाडनाक कहा जाता है।  

सकारात्‍मक पक्ष

-    यह मॉडल सरल तथा आसानी से समझ में आने वाला है।

-- डेविस ने स्‍थलरूपों के विस्‍तृत अध्‍ययन के फलस्‍वरूप अपरदन चक्र को प्रदर्शित किया है।

-- डेविस को तत्‍कालीन विद्वानों का पूर्ण समर्थन प्राप्‍त हुआ।

नकारात्‍मक पक्ष

1.     अल्‍प समय में तीव्र गति से स्‍थल रूप का उत्‍थान भ्रमाक है।

2.     अपरदन स्‍थल रूप के उत्‍थान की समाप्ति की प्रतीक्षा नहीं करता।

3.     स्‍थल रूपों के अवस्‍थाओं के क्रमिक रूप में सम्‍पन्‍न हो यह आवश्‍यक नहीं।

4.  अर्न्‍तजात बलों का किसी स्‍थल रूप का अपरदन तीनों अवस्‍थाओं की समाप्ति तक निस्‍क्रीय रहना संभव नहीं है।

5.     इस प्रकार का चक्र समय आधारित नहीं हो सकता बल्कि समय स्‍वतन्‍त्र होगा।

5.वर्तमान में डेविस के अपरदन चक्र को अधिक समर्थन प्राप्‍त नहीं है।

Davis' determination of topography development

According to davis sir

- The geographical cycle is a period of time in which the raised topography becomes degraded and turns into a flat plain.

- There is a byproduct of structure, structure, process and state.

According to Davis, the landforms have a gradual change in terms of time.

Davis revealed the evolution of the topography in terms of time by model. In this he has already accepted some beliefs

 1. The elevation period of a topography is short as compared to erosion period, a site is uplifted in a very short time.

2. There is no erosion as long as the site form is raised.

3. The nature of the topography is in accordance with the environmental conditions.

4. Rivers deepen their valley until they are sorted. The valley is then broadened by horizontal erosion.

5. Topographies are the result of entropy of endogenous and exogenous forces.

Preparation of erosion cycle - It involves the elevation of the site form which is to be eroded. The time spent in elevation of this site form is not included in the erosion cycle, rather it is called preparation of erosion cycle.

Upper curve in the diagram of the degenerate cycle - in the whole cycle it reveals the height of the top of the site. The height of this curve decreases as the height of the top of the surface forms decreases from puberty to the chronic state.

Lower Curve - This site in the entire cycle reveals the elevation of the lower level of the river valley from the sea level, due to its vertical erosion, the height decreases from the sea level, it becomes equal to the ocean floor when it goes from puberty to the old .

Timeline - It shows the time taken to change from the elevation of a land form to a mean flat ground.

Sea Line - It reveals the ocean floor or the last base level. From this line, the absolute elevation of the surface and the top of the land forms can be understood.

1. Youth age - This is the post-preparation stage. There is intense vertical erosion in the river valley, which increases the depth of the river valley leading to the formation of V shape basins and waterfalls. Height increases. In the graphical display, it indicates a rapid downward shift of the lower curve, increasing the distance between the upper curve and the lower curve, indicating an increase in relative elevation.

2. Mature stage - In this, the speed of ventilations slows down due to which the vertical erosion is slow and horizontal erosion is intensified. It has a broad rather than deepened valley. That is, instead of the V shape valley, broad valleys are built. There is a sharp decline in elevation of the topography, causing a sharp drop in the upper curve.

3. Old stage - Vertical erosion ends in it but horizontal erosion works. Water divides (terrestrial forms that divide the two river areas) become degraded. The steep curves of the top curve continue to decline as the elevation of the top of these terrestrial forms declines. Now the upper curve and lower curve display their maximum declines. Which shows that there is a lack of high ground forms and the peneplane has been constructed. Somewhere in this, the remains of the raised site forms are seen somewhere in the form of residual hills known as Monadnak.

positive side

- This model is simple and easy to understand.

- Davis has shown erosion cycle as a result of detailed study of topographies.

- Davis received full support from erstwhile scholars.

negative side

1. The elevation of the site form at a rapid pace in the short term is misleading.

2. The erosion does not wait for the abolition of the site form.

3. It is not necessary to be completed in the gradual form of stages of the site forms.

4. The erosion of a site form of internal forces is not possible to remain inoperative till the end of all three stages.

5. This type of cycle cannot be time based, rather time will be free. Davis' erosion cycle currently lacks  much not support.
